Co-Design

Codesign is a collaborative approach where Flagstaff employs a Codesign reference group of people with disability who actively participate and are consulted in the design and decision-making processes that affect them within a project or service.   

This ensures that resources, services, products, and policies are accessible, easy to read, useful and relevant to their needs and requirements. 

This approach values the unique insights and lived experiences of people with disability, ensuring they are expert contributors and decision makers.  

Codesign aligns with Flagstaff’s person-centered philosophy, our values of support and include and enhances our services’ effectiveness. 

• Inclusivity – Ensure diverse representation from the disability community.
• Choice and Control – People with disability can tell us what they require and feel important to them
• Feedback – Gather and incorporate feedback directly from the committee into our projects and policies.
• Advocacy – Support people with disability to advocate for their needs and preferences in each project
• Evaluation—Assist in improving programs and resources, continue evaluating the impact of co-designed projects, and adapt as needed.
• Relevance—Developed services, resources, and products are more likely to meet users’ actual needs.
•  Innovation – Diverse perspectives can lead to more creative and innovative solutions.
• Testing – Offers a test platform for technology and new resources
• Accessibility – People with disability can evaluate the access, ensure it is easily communicated and understand

Flagstaff currently has a team of 8 people on our Codesign reference group who also collect feedback from their peers. They are supported and celebrated by a team of internal and external stakeholders within Flagstaff.
